Making the case for sustainability.

Reports are dry. The GRI reporting methodology is one that is uniform from a peer city to city (and global) perspective, yet still translatable at the community level. However, sustainability is a leading concern for city development today. Ultimately, success is dependent on engaging the public in a way that they feel both connected and appreciated. Design was used to wet the pallette for more marketable audiences while remaining compliant to the universal method.

Project Description

The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is a leading organization in the sustainability field. They have pioneered and developed a comprehensive Sustainability Reporting Framework that is widely used around the world to highlight the economic, environmental and social impacts caused by everyday activities. The City of Atlanta’s Mayoral Office of Sustainability partnered with us to create a GRI Report to demonstrate the link between their strategies and its commitment to a sustainable global economy. In 2014, Atlanta was the second city in the nation to publish a Sustainability Report.

Building a Coalition Around GRI

Portions of the GRI Report highlighted specific groups that operate separate from the City, but have effects in the area of sustainability. These were not limited to non-profit and public service organizations, but also included major corporate entities.
